This is the home of the unnamed computer collective, a group of humans dedicated to reclaiming the web as a tool of community, creativity, and learning.
We are currently looking for founding members:
- Working on a project that uses technology to build community, encourage human creativity, or otherwise benefit humanity?
- Interested in person-to-person learning? (any skill-level. mentor? apprentice?)
Read on, and if the vision resonates with you, please reach out. Don't worry about what you can contribute yet, if it's the right fit, we'll find something.
If your project involves crypto/web3, or relies on corporate LLMs— no thank you.
computer collective?
The vision is to establish an online intentional community centered around common values.
Some goals:
- Help provide members a refuge from big tech, without having to rely on self-hosting.
- Share technical knowledge and wisdom in a human-centered way.
- Provide a place for like-minded people to talk about or collaborate on ideas related to our shared values.
- In a recursive manner, we'd like to establish some guidelines & best practices for similar communities.
At the moment, all of this is a work-in-progress.
2025 (so far):
- establish a private git forge
- hosted document, form, and database collaboration tools
- an RSS reader
- free hosting of lightweight projects
in-progress:
- private forum for collaboration
- regular virtual (and possibly in-person) hangouts, a sort of communal office hours
- establish communal governance
We are inspired by:
- start a computer club, a "group of people that do computer together".
- tildeverse and other small web communities, but with a more explicit goal of encouraging collaboration among our members.
